The 29th Glasgow has an active and adventurous Explorer Scout Unit led by Graeme Stewart.

The unit meets on most Friday nights from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. The unit currently has 18 members, boys and girls between 14 and 18.

Outdoor activity and adventure are at the route of our programme.

Our programme is designed by our members, and as such our activities are numerous and varied. Along with the classic scouting skills of orienteering, pioneering, navigation, camping, first aid and hill walking, we enjoy mountain biking, rock climbing, skiing, night nav, survival and bivy camping, lightweight camping etc etc etc. We are hoping to branch out into amphibious exercises this coming year.

We are a very active unit and we regularly attend international camps such as Blair Atholl. Last year we sent five Explorer Scouts to the International Jamboree.

Also this summer one of us spent 10 days sailing the North Sea on the Stavros S Niarchos, an experience sponsored by the RNVR War Memorial Trust. Community service and involvement in the wider outdoor community is high on the Units Programme. In June we provided support and assistance to the participants of the Rob Roy Challenge.
