Beaver Scouts

Beaver Scouts are the section for boys and girls between 5¾ to 8 year. In the 29th Glasgow we have two Beaver Colonies one meeting on Monday evenings the other on Tuesday evenings. We currently have over 50 Beavers spread between the two Colonies.

The Beaver programme is based on the theme of fun and friends. The Beavers spend a lot of time playing games and learning from simple practical activities. It is the first rung on the progressive training ladder that could lead to a World Jamboree in the Southern Hemisphere or cruising in a fully rigged sail training ship all as experienced by some of our former Beavers recently.

In addition to the weekly meetings in our Headquarters there are various outside activities ranging from visits to the pantomime to attending Group Family days when all can go out in a canoe or sailing dinghy all under the supervision of our qualified crew.

The weekly meetings are run in our Small Hall.  More information can be obtained by e-mailing the Beavers through the link on the left.

The 29th Glasgow has been running a section for the 6 to 8 year olds since we created the ‘Badgers’ in 1972. This was a section outside the Scout Association and was set up to meet the local demand with its own administration and insurance cover. When the Scout Association introduced Beaver Scouts our Badgers transformed into Beavers. A number of our former Badgers and Beavers have gone on to gain the Queen’s Scout Award as Venture Scouts and take out warrants as Leaders.
