On the 19 June 2010 the 29th Glasgow was inspected by Lt Cdr David Griffiths, RN, and successfully retained its Royal Naval Recognition for another year. The inspection took place at Largs Sailing Club and a fuller report will follow shortly. Report on previous RN Inspection below. The inspection commenced with the Inspecting Officer being piped in to the Scout Halls, where he then went on to inspect the 36 assembled Monday Cubs, Discovery Scouts and Explorer Sea Scouts. On completion of the inspection the Scouts split into their activity groups for the evening. While the groups were setting up the Inspecting Officer was invited through to the small hall to view the Tuesday Cub Pack's Christmas Party. The activities the Inspecting Officer viewed on his return to the large hall included: Kayaking theory, Map reading, outboard engine maintenance, VHF communications, parts of the boat and sailing practice on a dry trainer. A couple of the activities were led by two of the Explorer Sea Scouts who had recently become RYA Dinghy Instructor. The evening concluded with the presentation of a number of RYA awards, long Service Awards and a Queens Scout Award. Following the presentation of awards the Group was dismissed and then addressed by the Inspecting Officer. During his address he announced that the Group had successfully passed inspection and presented the Certificate of Recognition to Mr S Walls, the Group Scout Leader. |
