Online Sailing Booking

We now have an online booking system to make it easier to manage and plan the sailing days at Largs.

If you would like to come along to one of the Summer Sailing days at Largs please use the link below to book a space. You do not need to be a registered user of the website.

Please only book the days you are 100% certain you can attend. If you book a place and then find you can’t attend please email John at ess@29thglasgow.org.uk  and we will cancel your booking for you. People who book a place and regularly do not turn up for sailing will have all their other bookings cancelled.

If you would like to come along sailing but there is no space left please email John at ess@29thglasgow.org.uk and tell us which day you would like to come along on and we will see if we can find space for you.

Who can come sailing?
Sailing is open to anyone in the Discovery Scout Section and any Explorer Scouts.

Do I need to be able to sail?
No previous sailing experience is required. The only requirement is that participants must be able to swim 50m.

Where do we go sailing?
The majority of the 29th Glasgow’s sailing is undertaken at Largs, where we are members of Largs Sailing Club. Other venues may be arranged.

How much does sailing cost?
The cost for sailing is £12 per day. This is a contribution towards the annual costs of providing transport, safety boat fuel, membership of Largs Sailing Club and the boats.

What days can I come sailing?
Please check the calendar above to see which dates are available for you to come along sailing. There are only a limited number of places each day, so please make sure you book a space.

What time is sailing from?
We meet at 10am at the Cameron Halls on the day of sailing returning at around 7.30pm. Arrival times back at the halls can vary so the normal practice is for the sailors to phone home once we have left Largs.

Who will be taking me sailing?
All sessions are run under the supervision of the 29th Glasgow Scout Groups RYA Senior Instructors, RYA Dinghy Instructors and RYA Powerboat Instructors. The Explorer Sea Scouts also help run some of the sailing sessions.

How do we get to Largs?
The majority of the time we will be using the Scout minibus to travel to and from Largs. On the few occassions the bus is in use by other sections, parents will be asked to assist with transport.
